Biography

Mars Eve was born Marshall Eve on February 14, 1971, in East Texas, and lives in Longview, Texas. He received a BFA from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2009, with an emphasis in painting and printmaking.

In the early 2000s he published in the alternative comics Shiot Crock and Beltsander, and later in Wizerd #1. In the same period he showed a large painting in a group exhibition at the Longview Museum of Fine Arts, and experimented with social media as art, including Vine videos and YouTube vlogs.

He sold his first NFT, Stoned Elon, in April 2021. Feeling late to NFTs, he recognized he was early to AI art and began documenting the scene in summer 2022. In October 2022 he founded AI ART TODAY, which began as live Spaces on X that still run in the mornings. Its podcast, AI ARTIST TODAY, is about AI for all artists, not just AI artists.

His Christian faith has always been part of his work. He has been married to Foxy since 1989.

Artist statement

My art is about the interaction and collaboration of AI and my creative process. It is a mutual exploration in utilizing my neurodivergence, and learning to overcome issues with my neurodivergence, to create and extract the dreams in my mind. It is like a second brain, not just thinking, but expanding and multiplying. My work generally revolves around my interests in spirituality, sexuality and pop culture. I'm also inspired by my lowbrow art past. I have painted, been a printmaker, and drawn comics, but what AI gives me is the ability to overcome neurodivergent hurdles and actually make work, and not just get stuck in my head and dream about it. It's giving me the tools to crawl out of my shell and actually create. When people look at my work, they are seeing the visual interpretation of my thoughts and how I describe my life, interpreted through a creative AI. My Christian faith has always been integrated into my art. When I was 18, I chose art school over seminary.
